glimpse at cold soda

eddie castro, born and raised in dallas, tx. graduate of sunset high school in oak cliff, 1999. art has been a part of my life since grade school. eddie remembers drawing cartoon characters for his classmates in 2nd grade. the joy he felt giving them those drawings is the same feeling he gets today when he hand someone a finished piece.

"glimpse"

showcasing an eclectic body of work spanning several years, 2018 to 2022. here, you will see three mediums castro explored over the years. every medium revolves around one thing, spray paint. his love for spray painting has never waned but it does have limits. this led me to seek out different avenues.

woodwork - simple cuts of 90 degree and 45 degree angles. eddie's recipe is as follows, "keep it simple, clean, and elegant."

canvas - thinking big, eddie sought out to make his own canvases. buying a roll and starting from scratch.  learning as he went and taking the punches that came with it. at first, using a mixed media then moving to an all spray paint format.

paper - eddie had to pause all of my large works while moving. he ended up back at his desk. after regrouping and thinking, he came up with one goal. original character development and using new paper techniques.
